TWO NEW COMPANIES JOIN THE “OLIVE AND OLIVE” ASSOCIATION, A PROJECT ON THE RISE THAT HAS THE SUPPORT OF MORE THAN HALF A HUNDRED PARTNERS.
The Casa de la Tercia, the building where the “Olivar y Aceite” Interpretation Center is located, hosted on the morning of Wednesday, November 9, 2016, the presentation of two new partners who joined our exciting project in favor of the EVOOs of quality
The new companies that begin their journey as members of this association are: FINCA LAS MANILLAS with its Noviembre oil and SOUTH WALKERCON with its Re-present and Ladyexcepcional oils.
The president of the Olivar y Aceite Association, Javier Gámez, stated “that with the incorporation of these two new members, with whom we now have fifty-five partners, we have managed to grow the number of people involved in this great project, whose objective is the promotion and dissemination of extra virgin olive oil,” said Gámez. He also indicated that the new members add a grain of sand to this project that little by little is becoming a great project for the promotion of extra virgin olive oil.
Today two new partners have been presented, such as, on the one hand, the company SOUTH WALKER with two brands of oil, which are Re-present and Ladyexcepcional and on the other hand FINCA LAS MANILLAS, which markets the Noviembre brand.
“With effort, work and enthusiasm, this project continues and the incorporation of new members shows that the Olivar Center has great dissemination and great success, and a good example of this is that the number of members exceeds fifty” Gámez asserted.
Presenting EVOO NOVEMBER was Beatriz Castilla, who explained that the company is family-owned, they have been working in the world of olive oil for four generations, specifically since 1878, – Castilla clarified -, that they have always had a factory, almost artisanal, since we grind 2% of the farm’s production. NOVEMBER is produced at Finca Las Manillas, it is a single-varietal picual oil, obtained at the optimal moment of fruit ripening, making a careful selection of healthy picual olives, in veraison and with a maturity index between 3, 5 and 4. The Olives are collected manually from trees previously selected for the production of this extra virgin. The entire process is carried out in a temperature range that never exceeds 20 ºC, which facilitates the conservation of the fruit’s identity. They take maximum care of the production of their extra virgin olive oil in order to highlight the main characteristics of the fruit from which they come. It is a full-bodied EVOO, rich in phenols and a high proportion of oleic acid. It provides softness and harmony in the mouth, nuances that facilitate the enhancement of the flavors of the foods to which we incorporate them, being especially recommended to be consumed cold added to salads and creams in which its palatability improves with a smaller amount of it, likewise. Its aromas are ideal to consume with blue fish and red meat, which makes them more digestible. They are also durable over time due to the high amount of phenols, among which hydroxytyrosol stands out, recognized for its beneficial action on the heart and the circulatory system in general. Regarding its organoleptic properties, we find floral notes and freshly cut grass notes, which balance the bitter and spicy nuances so characteristic of the picual variety. In addition, they also have on the market
oil pearls to add to salads, canapés or salmorejo. Castilla announced that they would soon launch an extra virgin olive oil jam and an infusion of olive leaves mixed with tea.
José Luis Sosa and Amelia Medina are partners in the company SOUTH WALKER. Sosa explained that “the company was created with a clear objective to expand the culture of extra virgin olive oil that already exists but with the idea of promoting it outside our borders, making it extensible to any geographical point, whether in Spain or the world. Furthermore, we seek to combine the quality of the province’s oils with solidarity, since all our brands must have a very important solidarity component, Sosa stressed. Thus 15% of our income goes to cancer research.” Sosa and Medina have a maxim: “life is a gift, give life.” “We personally have learned a lot since we have participated in many of the activities organized by the “Olivar y Aceite” Interpretation Center; Solidarity and quality can go hand in hand. We do this to save lives and this is our greatest benefit, Medina stated.
Regarding the brands that the company sells, Re-present offers that possibility by selling high-quality products with a charitable purpose, both for companies and individuals. Every time the customer purchases one of our products, they know that 15% of the amount will go to a non-profit foundation or association that they choose. On the other hand, Ladyexceptional aims to raise awareness in society of the importance of cancer research. Under the motto “Millions of drops make an ocean,” they distribute and market cans of oil that divide four stages of life:
– Childhood. A portion of the profits will go to childhood cancer research.
– Adolescence: the profits will go to the fight against leukemia.
– Adulthood: with the benefits destined to help against breast cancer.
– Old age: which represents the victory against cancer and whose benefits are focused on the fight against colon cancer.
In addition, each of the cans carries a phrase or reflection, the one from the elderly says: “Become great by enjoying small things.” This company collaborates with the CRIS Foundation (Cancer Research Innovation Spain) Against Cancer and with the Fero Foundation, whose sole purpose is cancer research.
